Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

Artistic Tile is a minority + woman owned and operated business and is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our Founder & Chairman of the Board, Nancy Epstein, is a Jewish woman, and a pioneer in a male-dominated industry since she established the company in 1987. Today Nancy leads the business along with her sons Michael, Zachary, and Joshua, and her cousins Joshua and Lauren. Lauren, also a Jewish woman, is President & Chief Sales Officer. Of the many departments at Artistic Tile, nearly all are women-led, including Import, Sampling, Marketing, Accounting, and Customer Service. Most retail stores are also managed by women, who are the majority of staff.

We are extremely proud of our diversity, which includes BIPOC, Latinx, AAPI and LGBTQ+ people throughout the business in a wide variety of roles, including leadership roles in our Slab Gallery, Accounting, Sampling, and Marketing departments.

Artistic Tile is an international business, with overseas and domestic manufacturers crafting our proprietary and exclusive products, many of which are handmade. We import from and maintain partnerships with companies in India, China, Mexico, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Japan, Europe, the Middle East, and elsewhere, and of course, from the United States. Our vendors and craftspeople represent a wide variety of ethnicities and cultures, and all are vetted to ensure that they are diverse, inclusive, environmentally conscious, non-exploitative, and responsible to their employees and communities. A great number of our business partners and suppliers are women-owned and women-led.

We recognize the importance of word and deed among members of the design community. As leaders in our field, we hope that through scholarships, raising awareness, and economic opportunity, our support for marginalized communities inspires others, and makes a positive difference in people’s lives, in our country, and in the world. We are developing programming to educate our internal team and our partners on the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and we recognize that social awareness of these themes is positive, and wish to do our part in listening, learning, and sharing what we learn.

These issues have always been core to our identity as a minority-woman owned, socially conscious business. We are committed to continuing to do the work, work we have done since our creation, as we seek to create a more beautiful and inclusive world.
