Cherry Blossom Extra Marble Reading Room
When designer Andrea Schumacher fell in love with Cherry Blossom Extra Marble, she let it inspire the color palette for Pink Rhino Room, her modern take on a speakeasy created for the 2025 Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York. Schumacher complemented the beautiful black and charcoal of the stone with Guli Mask wallpaper, a design based on her grandmother’s artwork. The pink, plum, and ocher hues in Cherry Blossom Extra show up again in the room’s luxurious textiles, which meld salmon and blush with gold and topaz. Comfortable swivel chairs invite guests to stay, relax, and read while enjoying an afternoon aperitif. This maximalist interior mixes patterns as varied as tweed and leopard print with global influences from Nigeria and Morocco, including the ogee-arched reading nooks. Matte and shiny materials add to the textural splendor of this unique space.
